Winter Olympic Revolution

Skiing for a country - Developing for a people​

 

  • Lead operations to enable the first Malagasy athlete to participate in a Winter Olympic (Torino 2006) and the first athlete to use the Olympic Games as a development platform for its country

 

  • Resulted in worldwide extensive media coverage in 2006 reaching 3 billion viewers and raised $200,000 to fund development projects in Madagascar. Mathieu finished 37th in Torino 2006

  • The legacy of the Malagasy Ski Federation continues with Mia Clerc, a young female athlete adopted in an orphanage in Madagascar at the age of 18 months, is the first female athlete from Madagascar to have results in a Winter Olympics (finishing 47th-48th) and first African woman to have a result in alpine ski World Championships (40th-50th).

  • Mia and other athletes are preparing for the next Olympics in Beijing 2022 and Milano-Cortina 2026
